*These terms and conditions were changed on 04 February 2026 to reflect changes to the Global Sanctions corporate account structure, pricing terms, and account security. The changes include:

  • The addition of Section 1.3 on Multi-factor authorisation (MFA).
  • Changes to Section 2 to reflect a new usage system for corporate accounts

1. General Terms

These terms and conditions are made on behalf of GLOBAL SANCTIONS LIMITED. Any reference to “Global Sanctions”, “we”, “our”, “us” is to GLOBAL SANCTIONS LIMITED.

We are a limited company registered in England & Wales, company number 09286159.

References to “our site” or the “Global Sanctions Site” are to the digital information network operated by or on behalf of Global Sanctions, including without limitation, globalsanctions.com and any other domains and websites owned or operated by Global Sanctions, and the material on such domains.

1.1 User consent to the Terms & Conditions

You represent that you have read and agree to be bound by the Terms & Conditions.

These Terms & Conditions apply whenever you use our site and access the content and services provided by Global Sanctions (“Global Sanctions Content”).

1.2 Registration and Account Creation

As part of the registration and account creation process necessary to obtain access to certain areas of and services provided by Global Sanctions, including those areas that require a fee or payment for access, you will select a username and a password. You will provide Global Sanctions with certain registration information, all of which must be accurate, truthful, and updated. You shall not:

  • create an account for anyone other than yourself without permission;
  • use a username in which another person has rights without such person’s authorisation; or
  • use a username or password that Global Sanctions, in its sole discretion, deems offensive or inappropriate.

Global Sanctions reserves the right to deny creation of or continued use of your account based on Global Sanction’s inability to verify the authenticity of your registration information or if your registration breaches any laws or applicable regulations. You shall be solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password. You shall immediately notify Global Sanctions via info@globalsanctions.co.uk of any known or suspected unauthorised use(s) of your account, or any known or suspected breach of security, including loss, theft, or unauthorised disclosure of your password or credit card information.

You are fully responsible for all usage and activity on your account. You agree you will not sell, transfer or assign your Subscription or any Subscription rights.

If the computer system on which you accessed the Service is sold or transferred to another party, you warrant and represent that you will delete all cookies and software files obtained by or through use of Global Sanctions.

1.3 Multi-factor authorisation

Users must enable and maintain multi-factor authorisation (MFA) on their account where available. Failure to enable or maintain MFA may result in restricted or suspended access to the Services. Users are responsible for keeping their authentication methods secure and up to date.

2. Subscription Terms

2.1 Subscriptions

We offer a range of subscriptions:

  • Corporate tiered subscriptions – accessed for a defined or unlimited number of people from the same organisation, including self-employed people;
  • Free subscriptions – access for full time students and academics, charities and NGOs, and government bodies; and
  • Subscriptions on a trial basis (“Trial Subscriptions”).

The above are referred to collectively as “the Subscriptions” and individually as a “Subscription”. Those that hold a Subscription are referred to as “the Subscriber”. Where the Subscription held is a corporate subscription, “the Subscriber” also refers to people who access the site through that corporate Subscription.

Trial Subscriptions last 14 days unless otherwise agreed. You may not take more than one Trial Subscription in any twelve-month period. We may cancel any Trial Subscription if you have had access to any other Trial Subscription in the previous twelve months.

You may purchase a Subscription by submitting an order and providing the sign-up details on the Global Sanctions Site. We will only accept your order when we have successfully processed your payment details and emailed you to confirm this.

We will try to process your Subscription order promptly but cannot guarantee activation by any specified time. We may reject or cancel any Subscription or Subscription order in our discretion. You confirm that your sign up and payment details are complete, accurate and up to date, and that you are entitled to purchase a Subscription using those sign up and payment details.  It is your responsibility to update and maintain changes to your sign-up details on your Account pages.

Your Subscription entitles you to access all information, on the site or otherwise, published by Global Sanctions, which includes news stories, legislation, guidance, court judgments, enforcement and licensing information, target search tool, sanctions map, media resources, and instant, daily, and weekly email alerts (“Subscription Content”).

You Subscription Period lasts for 12 months from date of payment, unless otherwise agreed. Your Subscription will renew automatically, unless paid for by BACs or cancelled by you or by us.

It is your responsibility to cancel your Subscription if you do not want it to renew. Global Sanctions may not refund you if you fail to cancel an automatically renewing subscription.

All Subscribers must use a professional or institutional email address to register their account. Global Sanctions may suspend your account if you sign up with a generic email address. Examples of generic email address domains include, but are not limited to, @gmail.com, @outlook.com, and @hotmail.com.

2.2 Types of Subscription

2.2.1 Single User Subscriptions

Single user corporate tiered subscriptions (“Single User Subscriptions”) permit access for 1 user to all Subscription Content. Single User Subscriptions must be set up using a professional email address. A Single User subscriber must not share their login or Subscription Content with any other person; to do so will breach these terms and conditions.

2.2.2 Multi-User Subscriptions

Corporate Multi-User Subscriptions (except the “unlimited tier”) permit access for a maximum number of users from the same organisation to all Subscription Content. Corporate subscriptions allow you to create corporate sub-accounts for those within the same organisation to access our content. The number of sub-accounts a Multi-User subscriber can create is determined by which tier purchased. See our Subscribe page for details of available tiers.

Unlimited tier subscriptions permit an unlimited number of users from the same organisation to access all Subscription Content.

If your access is through a corporate sub-account, then these Terms & Conditions continue to apply to your use of our site.

A Multi-User subscriber must not share the login or Subscription Content with any other person. Global Sanctions may suspend or cancel your subscription without refund if a login or Subscription Content has been shared.

Subscriptions and logins must not be shared with anyone outside the subscribing organisation. The subscribing organisation must keep the list of sub-accounts (i.e. individuals with access) up to date and accurate and must inform Global Sanctions if someone leaves the organisation or no longer wishes to be a user.

Subscribers with a finite number of sub-accounts may only change their users once per 30-day period. Breach of this terms could lead to the suspension or cancellation of the  subscription without refund.

2.2.3 Free Subscriptions

Global Sanctions offers free subscriptions to:

  • Students in full-time education
  • Charities / NGOs
  • Government departments and regulators
  • Academics and universities

To apply for a student, academic or charity subscription, go to this page, which provides further details on the information we require to prove charitable or student status. Attendance at part-time and professional courses is not sufficient to demonstrate student status.

To apply for a government department and regulators subscription, please email info@globalsanctions.co.uk. In your email, please indicate your role and the name and country of the government department or regulator to which you belong. If you are a government department or regulator which paid for a subscription before 1 March 2026, you will become eligible for a free subscription when your current subscription ends. Global Sanctions will not refund your previous subscription.

Subscribers who hold free Subscriptions must not share their login details with any other person. Failure to follow this rule will be considered a breach of these Terms & Conditions and will result in your Subscription being cancelled.

2.2.4 Discounted Subscriptions

Any discount codes provided by Global Sanctions or for the Global Sanctions site shall expire 6 months after the date of publication, unless a specific expiry date or alternative provision is stated in terms and conditions accompanying the discount code. The date of publication will be clearly indicated in the relevant communication or offer containing the discount code or can be requested from Global Sanctions. It is the responsibility of the recipient of the discount code to use it prior to the expiration date. Global Sanctions reserves the right to amend or revoke any discount code at its sole discretion, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.

Discount codes do not apply retroactively. It is the responsibility of the recipient to use the code prior to purchase; no refunds will be provided for failure to use the code correctly.

2.3 Fees and Payment

You agree to pay the Subscription fees at the rates and in the currency displayed during the Subscription process and will be responsible for covering all bank transfer fees associated with the payment.

If we do not receive payment authorisation or any authorisation is subsequently cancelled, we may immediately terminate or suspend your Subscription.

Global Sanctions reserves the right to vary the price of your Subscription. We will give you at least 14 days’ notice of any variation, which will take effect at your next renewal date unless we specify otherwise.

Global Sanctions will do all that it reasonably can to ensure that all the information you give us when paying is secure by using an encrypted secure payment mechanism.  However, in the absence of negligence on our part, any failure by us to comply with this contract or our Privacy Policy or breach by us of our duties under applicable laws, we will not be legally responsible to you for any loss that you may suffer, for example if a third party gains unauthorised access to any information that you give us.

We use Stripe to facilitate online payments and so do not hold or retain any personal payment information. For details of how Stripe handles your information, please see their Privacy pages.

All prices displayed are shown exclusive of VAT. VAT will be added to the price at the applicable rate where required by law. Global Sanctions will clearly display when VAT is applicable.

2.3.1 Payment by manual bank transfer

Subscribers can also pay by manual bank transfer. In such circumstances, the invoice is payable within 30 days, unless the invoice says otherwise. Global Sanctions may suspend an account if payment is not received within 30 days, unless the invoice stipulates a different payment period.

2.3.2 Pricing tiers

From 1 March 2026, Global Sanctions corporate subscribers will have to choose a subscription tier when they sign up or renew their subscription. The chosen tier will determine how many Subscribers can be attached to that corporate subscription.

Tiered pricing will affect all subscriptions which start after 1 March 2026, or are due to renew after 1 March 2026. Existing corporate subscribers whose renewal date is on or after 1 March 2026 may not renew at the previous subscription price. If you purchased a corporate account prior to 1 March 2026, you will retain access to the website on the terms of your previous purchase until your next renewal date.

Subscribers whose subscription only allows a certain number of users may upgrade their subscription to add more users. The cost of doing so will be prorated. Subscribers who want to reduce their number of users or move to a lower tier can do so at any time. Reducing the number of users will not trigger an automatic refund and may result in users losing access to Global Sanctions content.

2.4 Your Right to Termination

If you no longer wish to have a Subscription, you may terminate your Subscription. Cancellation will take effect at the end of your then current Subscription period. You will not be entitled to a refund.

To exercise your rights to terminate, you must inform us of your decision by contacting info@globalsanctions.co.uk. Please include:

  • Subscriber’s full name;
  • The account email address;
  • The billing address;
  • Your contact telephone number;
  • Your reason for cancelling.

You are responsible for all charges incurred up to the time the account is terminated. If you would like to cancel, you are responsible for cancelling your subscription prior to an automatic renewal.

2.5 Our Right to Termination

If we do not receive payment authorisation or any authorisation is subsequently cancelled, we may immediately terminate or suspend your Subscription.

Upon purchasing a subscription, you provide information pertaining to your eligibility for the selected subscription. If you misrepresent your eligibility or any information, we reserve the right to terminate your subscription without notice and without refund.

We may suspend or terminate your Subscription if we are prevented from providing services to you, or accepting payment from you, by applicable law, or circumstances beyond our control, or if we cease operations. If we terminate for any of these reasons, we will provide you with a pro rata refund to the extent permitted by applicable law. If we terminate for any of these reasons, we will email you at the address you have registered stating that the agreement has terminated.

We may also suspend or terminate your Subscription, without refund, if you breach these Terms & Conditions, or in the event of any verbal or written abuse of any kind (including abusive, offensive or aggressive language) directed towards our team, or any member of the public, with or without notice and without further obligation to you.

In addition to the above, Global Sanctions may suspend or terminate your Subscription if:

  • We cannot verify the authenticity of your registration information or if your registration breaches any laws or applicable regulations (T&Cs 1.2)
  • You sell, transfer, or assign your Subscription or Subscription rights (T&Cs 1.2)
  • You fail to maintain adequate security measures, for example by failing to implement Multi-Factor Authorisation (T&Cs 1.3)
  • You fail to enter a professional or institutional email address when registering for an account (T&Cs 2.1)
  • You share your login details or Subscription Content with another person who is not a Global Sanctions Subscriber (T&Cs 2.2.1)
  • You hold a corporate tiered account and repeatedly change your sub-accounts within a 30-day window (T&Cs 2.2.2)
  • You have represented yourself to be a student or work for a charity / NGO based on false or misleading information (T&Cs 2.2.3)

If we disable your account, you agree that you will not create another one without our permission. Notwithstanding anything else herein, Global Sanctions reserves the right to pursue any and all claims against any user of your account.

If you are not a Subscriber, then we may suspend or terminate your access to Global Sanctions at any time, with or without notice and without further obligation to you.
