Czech Republic

Overview

The Czech Republic is a UN and EU member state and implements UN and EU sanctions.

The implementation of international sanctions in the Czech Republic is governed by Act No. 69/2006 Sb (International Sanctions Act).

On 3 January 2023, the Czech Republic introduced national sanctions legislation, the Sanctions Act (English translation), which it has used to impose asset freezes and travel bans on individuals who are not designated by the EU (see Czech Republic autonomous sanctions list).

 

National Competent Authorities

The Financial Analysis Office is responsible for the coordination of the implementation of sanctions in the Czech Republic.  The Ministry of Industry and Trade Licensing Administration is responsible for licensing and has oversight of dual-use goods and military equipment lists.  The General Directorate of Customs is in charge of export controls.  The Ministry of Transportation carries out the freezing of planes.  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes press releases of designations.
