EU extends Russia hybrid threats sanctions regime to October 2027

maradon 333/Shutterstock.comThe EU has announced the extension of its Russian hybrid threats sanctions framework for another year, until 9 October 2027 – press release.
The regime was established in 2024 and is implemented under Regulation (EU) 2024/2642. It targets those said to be responsible for supporting/benefitting from Russian attempts to threaten democracy and the rule of law in the EU, including through electoral interference, cyber-attacks, and facilitating armed conflict in third countries. It was last extended on 9 October 2025 for 1 year.
80 people and 20 entities are currently listed under the regime and are subject to asset freezes, transaction bans and travel bans. See our EU Russia pages for more information on this EU sanctions regime.
