US updates Ethiopia designations following expiry of national emergency

Hybrid_Production Ethiopi/Shutterstock.comThe US has delisted all people and entities listed on the EO 14046 Ethiopia sanctions list, following the EO’s expiry. The EO declared a national emergency with respect to Ethiopia in September 2021, because of the threat to US national security from northern Ethiopia, and the country’s humanitarian crisis. Delisted entities include the Eritrean Defence Forces and the People’s Front for Democracy and Justice, Eritrea’s ruling party.
