Huawei trial begins in US for Iran sanctions violations

Jbruiz/Shutterstock.comHuawei's criminal trial over alleged breaches of US sanctions against Iran has begun in federal court in Brooklyn, New York.
The US first charged Huawei in 2019 with misleading HSBC and other banks about its business in Iran. The charges include bank fraud, wire fraud, violating US sanctions against Iran, money laundering, racketeering and obstruction. Huawei has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The indictment covers conduct between 1999 and 2020. It accuses Huawei of using Skycom, a company operating in Iran, to obtain embargoed US goods, technology and services & to money out of Iran through the international banking system in breach of US sanctions.
