The US has listed 5 entities and 8 people on its EO 14404 Cuba sanctions regime – Press release. Those listed are said to be involved in the procurement of military equipment from abroad for the US-designated Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (MINFAR) and security forces. They include:

  • Empresa Cubana Exportadora e Importadora de Servicios, Articulos y Productos Tecnicos Especializados SA, involved in the trade of wholesale machinery and equipment;
  • Union de Industria Militar, involved in Cuban defence activities;
  • Sanchez Alleyne, linked to Empresa Cubana.

The US has also issued Cuba-related FAQ 1264, which states that the US will not sanction non-US citizens involved in humanitarian activities that send food, medicine, or medical devices to Cuba under EO 14404. US citizens who are involved in these activities must comply with General License 1 (see our US licensing page for more information).
