EU statements on 3rd country alignment with EU measures relating to its Russia, Sudan, Lebanon and human rights sanctions regimes

The EU has issued 5 statements on third country alignment with EU measures.  Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Moldova (Republic of), Montenegro, North Macedonia and Ukraine align themselves with all 5 measures. Further 3rd countries align themselves with individual measures. The relevant measures are:

• The EU’s listing of 8 people and 1 entity under Regulation (EU) 2020/1998  human rights sanctions list – see our coverage (Liechstenstein and Norway also align themselves with these designations);

• The EU’s listing of 11 people and 5 entities under Regulation (EU) 2024/1485 Russia sanctions list – see our coverage (Liechstenstein and Norway also align themselves with these designations);

• The EU’s listing of Ivan Kasyanenko under its Regulation (EU) 2024/2642 Russia destabilising activities list – see our coverage (Norway also aligns itself with the designation);

• EU’s expanded sanctions on Sudan’s gold sector under Regulation (EU) 2026/1724 – see our coverage (Armenia, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Serbia also align themselves with this measure);

• The renewal of the Regulation (EU) 2021/1275 Lebanon sanctions regime until July 2027 – see our coverage (Serbia also aligns itself with this measure).
