The UK has delisted the Libyan Arab African Investment Company (LAAICO) following an official decision-making process.

LAAICO was UK-designated in 2020 when the Libya (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 were introduced. It had previously been subject to sanctions in the UK by operation of the pre-EU Exit sanctions regime (Regulation (EU) 2016/44) for being linked to the former Quadhafi regime.

Reasons were not provided for delisting LAAICO. The EU removed LAAICO from its sanctions list in 2022 after the EU General Court said it did not meet the listing criteria under Reg 2016/44 (Case T-267/20).

See our UK delisting page for delisting procedures.
