The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of Latvia has published its 2025 Annual Report, one year since it began its role as the competent authority for sanctions implementation. The FIU’s measures have focused on educating the public about practical sanctions implementation, and on co-operating with international partners.

The report says that in 2025 the FIU:

  • Published a register of 156 sanctioned people and entities with frozen assets in Latvia;
  • Reported on frozen assets valued at EUR 153 million;
  • Received an 80% increase in reports of sanctions violations compared to 2024;
  • Identified 10% of the vessels associated with the Russian “shadow fleet” that were added to the EU sanctions list in 2025.
