The UK’s Export Control Joint Unit has issued a notice to exporters 2026/12 to inform exporters that from Monday 27 April 2026, the Office of Trade Sanctions Implementation will be responsible for licensing sanctioned goods and ancillary services for export where those goods are not otherwise subject to export controls.

The ECJU will continue to be responsible for licensing all goods and associated ancillary services which are subject to export controls (including where the destination is sanctioned).

The licence application route will remain unchanged during the transition. UK exporters should continue to use the SPIRE system for licensing sanctioned goods and ancillary services.

OTSI will publish guidance on the upcoming change. See our UK licensing pages for information on UK trade sanctions licensing.
