Japan has added 4 Sudan RSF commanders to its sanctions list following their designation by the UN in February 2026 (pursuant to resolution 1591 (2005)). They are:

  • Gedo Hamdan Ahmed – a deputy commander of the RSF, also present in El Fasher.
  • Tijani Ibrahim Moussa Mohamed – a field commander of the RSF, who was present in El Fasher.
  • Al-Fateh Abdullah Idris – a brigadier general of the RSF, who gave orders to kill over 2,000 people in El Fasher and Darfur.

Japan implements UN sanctions via the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act 1949. See our Japan pages for further information.
