AirP72/Shutterstock.comGermany’s Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) has updated its general export authorisations, which came into effect 1 April 2026. See our Germany export control pages for information on Germany’s export control framework.
Most existing authorisations are extended to 31 March 2027, and a new General Authorisation No. 47 is introduced for certain exports and transfers under Germany’s War Weapons Control Act. Guidance on General Authorisation 47 is available here.
BAFA also made changes to authorisations in the defence and dual-use areas. These include content updates to Authorisations Nos. 20 to 25, 28, 34 and 36; technical reporting changes to Nos. 25 and 48; and editorial updates to Nos. 18, 19, 26, 27, 32, 33, 35 and 46. See BAFA’s general authorisation overview for more information on these permits.
For dual-use goods, Kyrgyzstan is removed from the privileged destination list under Authorisations Nos. 12, 13, 43 and 44. BAFA also adds a one-time sanctions-compliance declaration requirement for first use of general authorisations including Nos. 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 37, 38, 41, 43 and 44.
Separately, a temporary General Authorisation No. 48 took effect on 20 March 2026 to simplify certain defence-related exports to the Gulf states and Ukraine. The authorisation is valid until 15 September 2026 and includes registration and reporting obligations.
