China has imposed sanctions on Keiji Furuya, a Japanese Member of Parliament, for repeatedly visiting Taiwan. China said Mr Furuya’s repeated visits to Taiwan and his support for Taiwanese independence “seriously violates the one-China principle”, interferes in China’s internal affairs and severely undermines China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. As a result, China has imposed sanctions in accordance with Articles 3, 4, 6, 9, and 15 of the Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law - asset freezing measures, transaction ban in China, and denial of visas for China, Hong Kong and Macau.

See our China pages for information on the Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law.
