An Azerbaijani national has received an 11-year custodial sentence for exporting equipment to the Russian military in breach of Latvia’s Criminal Law and EU sanctions. He acted as part of a group that exported Starlink Mini Kit satellite internet connectivity systems from the US company SpaceX. The group knew that the satellite kits would be used by the Russian military. He was convicted in Latvia for breaches of Article 77.4 and Article 84 of Latvia’s Criminal Law and Article 2 of Regulation (EU) 833/2014, which prohibit the transfer of dual-use goods to Russian military end-users.
