The UK moved to a single sanctions list on 28 January 2026. The single UK sanctions list is now the UK Sanctions List maintained by the FCDO. The UK has published guidance on the change to a single sanctions list and a format guide to the sanctions list.

The UK previously had two sanctions lists: the UK Sanctions List maintained by the FCDO and the Consolidated List of Asset Freeze targets published by HM Treasury. This was because the FCDO list covered people, entities, and ships subject to financial, immigration, trade and transport sanctions, and HM Treasury’s Consolidated List covered only people and entities subject to UK financial sanctions.

A cross-government review of sanctions implementation and enforcement published in May 2025 recommended that the two sanctions list should be consolidated into a single list to help industry with screening for designated persons, particularly those subject to non-financial designations.

The UK will now no longer use or update the Consolidated List of Asset Freeze Targets published by HM Treasury or its search tool. The UK Sanctions List published by the FCDO is now the only UK Sanctions List.
