The UK is moving to a single list for sanctions designations from Wednesday 28 January 2026.

UK designations are currently set out on 2 lists (the UK Sanctions List published by the FCDO and the Consolidated List of Asset Freeze Targets published by HM Treasury). After 28 January 2026, only the UK Sanctions List maintained by the FCDO will be remain in use.

OFSI has today published the recording of a webinar discussing upcoming changes to the UK sanctions list and a format guide for the UK sanctions list to assist businesses with mapping fields from the Consolidated List onto the UK Sanctions List.

OFSI also updated its guidance:

  • A ‘checklist’ has been added to suggest steps businesses should take to prepare for the change.
  • A section has been added to say that the list of Russian persons subject to financial and investment restrictions will continue to be published alongside the new list.
  • The UK Sanctions List search tool will be retained following the change, but the OFSI Consolidated List search tool will be removed.
  • A new section has been added which contains the same information as the newly published format guide.
