The EU has extended its Venezuela sanctions regime until 10 January 2027. The EU said the decision was taken because of persistent actions undermining democracy and the rule of law, as well as continued human rights violations and the repression of civil society and democratic opposition in Venezuela.

The EU established its Venezuela sanctions regime in 2017 by adopting Regulation (EU) 2017/2063. There are currently 69 people subject to asset freezing measures under the regime. See our EU-Venezuela pages for more information.
