The US Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has published orders denying export privileges to 9 people and 1 entity who were convicted for various export control offences between February-September 2024. 7 people were convicted of illegally exporting firearms and ammunition, 1 exporting ballistic vests, and 1 person and 1 entity making false export documents.

Under section 1760(e) of the US Export Control Reform Act 2018, the export privileges of any person/entity who has been convicted of export control-related offences may be denied for a period of up to 10 years. BIS issued orders denying export privileges against:

The orders:

  • Ban the named person/entity from participating in transactions related to exports of US items listed in the Export Administration Regulations. This means they cannot apply for licenses, carry out negotiations, or benefit from such exports.
  • Prohibit any other person from helping that named person to export, reexport or transfer goods subject to the Export Administration Regulations.
  • Applies to other people or entities linked to the named person by ownership, control, or position of responsibility. This means linked persons and entities can also be denied export privileges to prevent circumvention of the Order.
