The UN has renewed its Yemen sanctions regime until 14 November 2026 following a vote in the UN Security Council – press release. The Council adopted resolution 2801 (2025), with 13 votes in favour and 2 abstentions (China and Russia). The resolution also extends the mandate of the Panel of Experts supporting the UN Yemen sanctions committee until 15 December 2026.

UN sanctions on Yemen were first imposed in 2014 by Resolution 2140 (2014). There are currently 10 people and 1 entity on the UN Yemen list. The sanctions regime consists of an assets freeze, a travel ban, and a targeted arms embargo against individuals and entities on the sanctions list. See our UN-Yemen page for more information.
