The UK’s Export Control Joint Unit has published its quarterly report on export control licensing statistics. The report covers the period 1 January to 31 March 2025.

The report notes there were 2,867 licensing decisions for standard individual export licences (SIELs), up 27% from the previous quarter. Of these decisions, 2,723 were issued, 140 were refused and 4 were revoked.

48% of SIELS were processed to first outcome within 20 working days, down from 58% in the previous quarter. 70% of SIELs were processed to first outcome within 60 working days, down from 76% in the previous quarter.

In the 2024 calendar year, there were 11,415 SIEL decisions, down 617 (5%) from 12,032 in 2023. Of those, 95% were issued and 5% were refused.
