India seizes US-sanctioned tankers off Mumbai coast

Pixel-Shot/Shutterstock.comIndia has seized three US-sanctioned vessels linked to Iran. The vessels are the Stellar Ruby (IMO 9555199), the Asphalt Star (IMO 9463528) and the Al Jafzia (IMO 9171498). All 3 vessels are linked to US-sanctioned Glory International FZ-LLC and its owner, Jugwinder Singh Brar. Glory International and Mr Brar were sanctioned under EO 13902 (Iran) for transporting oil for the National Iranian Oil Company and the Iranian military. The vessels are said to be part of Iran’s ‘shadow fleet’ of vessels used to circumvent sanctions on Iranian oil. More details on Iran sanctions are on our Iran page.
