EU adds 7 to Sudan list amid escalating violence between RSF and SAF

Algimantas Barzdzius/Shutterstock.comThe EU has added 7 people to its Sudan sanctions list under Regulation (EU) 2023/2147 in view of serious violations of international human rights and international humanitarian law in Darfur and throughout the country – press release.
- 5 designated people are affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces, a paramilitary force operated by the Sudanese government. This includes Algoney Hamdan Dagalo Musa, a RSF commander and brother of Abdelrahim Dagalo, who was sanctioned by the EU in November 2025.
- 2 designated people are affiliated with the Sudanese Armed Forces, the army of Sudan. They are Al-Misbah Abu Zaid Talha, a commander of a militia fighting alongside the SAF, and Al-Imam Joda Al-Tayyib, who has provided support to the SAF.
The RAF and SAF have been in conflict since April 2023. The EU established its new Sudan sanctions framework under Regulation (EU) 2023/2147 in response to the conflict. The EU also maintains sanctions on Sudan under Regulation (EU) 747/2014. For more information, see our EU-Sudan pages.
